Your call is important to us and we want to meet your needs. Please leave a message and one of
our staff will get back to you as soon as possible. Thank you.
For several years, the Seniors sub-committee of Bruce Community Futures Development Corporation (BCFDC),
were working on establishing Seniors Connect. With the support and
assistance from Service Canada, Bruce Community Futures Development Corporation, the Ontario Trillium Foundation and the
Municipality of Northern Bruce Peninsula, our goals have now been realized!
On 23 June 2005, incorporation under the name of Bruce Peninsula Seniors
Connect Inc. was achieved.
Bruce Peninsula Seniors Connect Inc. (BPSC) is now a dedicated seniors resource
centre initiated by a volunteer group of area seniors. It is the only volunteer-driven seniors resource centre on the Bruce Peninsula,
offering information, networking and activities to support the needs of seniors in our communities.
If you are, or know of a senior, who needs assistance, please contact us at 519-793-3781 or stop by our office at 90 Main
Street, Lions Head.
BPSC is now planning to expand to cover all areas of the Bruce Peninsula. To do this, we
need your help. If you wish to
volunteer to help a senior in your neighbourhood, or if you are a business who would like to register your company, call our office at
519-793-3781 to talk to a staff member or leave a message and one of our staff will get back to you.
Come join the Bruce Peninsula Seniors Connect team and help seniors to stay independent
and connected with their community.
We have available, brochures and booklets on accommodation, Guide to Government of Canada Services, Guide to
Advance Care Planning, Power of Attorney kits, Community Care Access Center and Meals on Wheels program to name
a few.
We have the resources to research any information you may need.
Seniors can contact our office and we will supply names of local businesses that can provide home repairs, yard
maintenance and housekeeping task. This program will match seniors with interested businesses. Costs will vary depending
on the work to be completed.
Due to the possibility that seniors could be vulnerable in our society, local businesses will go through the following
screening process:
Application form;
3 reference checks; and
A Police check ($25 fee, payable to the OPP).
If you are interested in having your business entered into our database, please contact our office.
Under the Telephone Support program, volunteers will track daily checks via the telephone. It will be up to the senior to call
their phone buddy daily. If they do not call, the volunteer will call them. If there is still no answer, the volunteer can
either go to the home or call their emergency contact numbers.
This will help to eliminate the fears and isolation that some people experience when they live alone.
We need volunteers!
Anyone wishing to volunteer can contact our office.
The screening process is as follows:
Application form;
3 reference checks; and
An interview to determine what services you would like to
offer; and
A Police check (no fee charged for those volunteering).
