Seniors Connect Coffee Break in Tobermory

On April 26th at our regular Thursday afternoon gathering at the
Tobermory Legion, we were graced with a presentation by Pat Horner
of her slides and memories of last year’s spring visit to England. Her
wonderful pictures and description of that lovely country’s buildings,
gardens and scenery made us all hope she would invite us along on
her next trip across the Pond! Twenty-five enthusiastic guests thanked
Pat for her most entertaining presentation.

May 17th’s Coffee Break saw Natasha Kraner, a local Chinese
medicine, reiki, and hypnosis practitioner, introduce a fascinated
group of ten to some of the alternative healing arts. Her presentation
was challenging and intriguing, and generated a lot of in-depth
questions. Three lucky people won reiki treatments, and it will be
interesting to hear their responses to Natasha’s healing services.

LIFE
We live when we are true to ourselves, authentic in our feelings, responsive to
our convictions; we live when we love, when we are involved in the lives of others, when we are committed and
concerned; we live when we build and create, hope, suffer and rejoice.
Treasure life in yourself and you give it to others; give it to others and it will come back to you.
For life, like love, cannot thrive inside its own threshold but is renewed as it
offers itself. Life grows as it is spent.

In Memory of Someone Else
We were saddened to learn this week of the passing of one of our members,
Someone Else. Someone Else’s passing created a vacancy that will be difficult to fill.
Else has been with us for many years, and did far more than a normal person’s
share of work. Whenever there was a job to do or a meeting to attend, one name was
on everyone’s list: let Someone Else do it.
It was common knowledge that Someone Else was among the largest
givers of our group. Whenever there was a need, everyone just assumed that Someone Else would do it.
Someone Else was a wonderful person, sometimes appearing superhuman, but a
person can only do so much. Were the truth known, everybody expected too
much of Someone Else.
Now, Else is gone. We wonder what we are going to do. Someone Else left a
wonderful example to follow. But who is going to follow things that Someone Else did?
When you are asked to help, please remember, we cannot depend on Someone Else any more.
