Happy Hands

(L-r) Ann Bacso, Holly McLay, Rosemary Lamond and Julie Henrichs
happily “hooking” away.

I’d like to draw your attention to a group which meets every Monday 9:30 a.m. – 12 noon in the Seniors Connect meeting room next door to the Library (in same building) in Lion’s Head. They are “happy hookers” in the traditional rug hooking way – not with latch hooks. Holly McLay oversees this work and gives help when needed. Holly tells me that anyone is welcome who also does other handicrafts.
At present, approximately eight people attend on a regular basis. Often, once a month, the time is extended 9:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. in order for lessons to be given and the folks take a bag lunch. Holly would be willing to go to Tobermory once a month to their Seniors Connect if anyone was interested in doing handicrafts. The Lion’s Head group has been meeting for 3˝ years and gladly welcomes enquiries and attendance. Phone Holly McLay at 519-793-6189, who gives permission for this contact.

Around the World in Pictures

On January 8th Tobermory Coffee Break guests were treated to a visual tour around the globe through Bill Caulfeild-Browne’s amazing travel photography. The journey began on the Bluenose in Halifax, and ending with a journey to some of Canada’s most beautiful places, including our own corner of it.
In between we enjoyed stunning views of man-made and natural surroundings and events around the planet. We thank Bill for this bright spot in a grey winter, and hope he will return with more pictures of his travels.

February Coffee Break
at Tobermory Legion

And now for something
completely different!

On February 12th we will indulge ourselves in some games. Come out prepared to be challenged at some old favourites, or perhaps something you have never tried before!

This activity will coincide to some extent with weekly fitness class, so we are grateful for the large space provided at the Legion! Be sure to come out to wake up your hibernating games skills!

Exercise – Exercise – Exercise

Walk the Bruce Trail in Winter – Warm and Dry!
Every Wednesday Morning at 10:30 at Tobermory Community Centre. Come and walk circuits without worrying about icy paths or unpleasant weather! Record your number of circuits each week, and see who can complete the length of the Bruce Trail first! (Or walk with your pedometer) There may be some recognition for results!

Seniors stretch & flexibility with Kathy Anderson
Every Friday morning in Brad Davis Common Room at 10:30 a.m. Winter wreaks havoc with our fitness levels, because the walking is nasty so much of the time. And every summer it is harder to shake off the winter’s stiffness and lack of energy. Come out for some gentle exercise to keep everything working in the meantime, and you will be glad you did come spring! (A little exercise helps you sleep better too!) Kathy will find suitable movement for individual challenges, so don’t hesitate to join in!

Exercise with Naomi
Every Tuesday Morning at 10:00 a.m. at Tobermory Legion. Come out for a workout tailored to your level. Naomi will adapt exercises for individual fitness needs. Cost $2.00 per session – can be paid ahead or at each session.

Swimming Update

The swimming programme which took place at Tobermory Lodge last year has been put on hold for the time being. Unfortunately we were unable to recruit enough members to make opening the pool viable for the Lodge.
At this time Seniors Connect is looking into getting some funding to help with underwriting this programme, and we will keep you informed if there is any hope of starting swimming again in the future.

ATTENTION MODEL BUILDERS!
Boats – Trains – Planes

Miniature models of any kind.

Is this your passion?

If so, then please contact Clive at
519-793-4586 for more information.
The January get together will be at
90 Main Street, Lion's Head
