A Day in the Country
On June 12th, 40 happy people spent a few hours in the delightful surroundings of Rural Rootz, a
garden in the hardwood forest outside Wiarton. We had a fascinating tour, and brought away many
treasures from Dee & Don Ashman’s plant and gift shops.
This was followed by a marvellous luncheon at beautiful Wildwood Resort near Red Bay. An afternoon
visit to Earthbound Gardens had to be postponed because of previous heavy rains. I think all had enough
fun for one day, but we look forward to a drier visit to Earthbound in the future. Thanks to all organisers,
drivers, and hosts for making the day memorable!
There are more pictures

A Report from Happy Hands
The Happy Hands group is meeting every Monday
morning and growing in numbers. The ladies are all
“hooking” on lovely projects, varying from pillow
tops, pictorials, rugs, etc.
A few of us enjoyed the “Fiber Friendship Day” at
the Bruce County Museum on June 4th. There is
currently a wonderful display of older hooked rugs,
also pictorials depicting scenes of Bruce County,
some from our own group. The show will be on
display all summer. This is always a great day, with
entertaining speakers and of course a delicious lunch
provided by the Chantry Rug Hooking School.
Any hand-crafty people (men included) are
welcome to join us, knitting, quilting, crocheting,
etc. every Monday morning at 9:30 a.m. ‘til noon.
Coffee is provided. Every 4th Monday of the month
a workshop is given for a small fee of $20 for the
day – 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Members bring a bag
lunch and someone always brings homemade
goodies.
Beginners are always welcome and supplies are
available. For more info, call Holly at 519-793-6189.

Computers for Seniors
Bruce Peninsula Seniors Connect has applied for a grant that will provide computers and computer training
for seniors on the Bruce Peninsula. Each senior will be given 6 - 2 hour training sessions, a free computer
and $100.00 for Internet access. The Computers are all reconditioned and are provided by Industry Canada.
It will be approximately 4 months before we know if the grant has been approved.

Being a Volunteer
It’s not for money, It’s not for fame
It’s not for any personal gain
It’s just for love of fellow man
It’s just to lend a helping hand
It’s just to give a tithe of self
That’s something you can’t buy with wealth
It’s not for medals won with pride
It’s not for that feeling deep inside
It’s that reward down in your heart
It’s that feeling that you’ve been a part
Of helping others far and near
That make you a volunteer
